Brazilian Carrot Cake – too good!!

Most of you don’t know yet, but this is the REAL carrot cake! :) Just kidding… but this is how a brazilian carrot cake looks like. Yummy hun?! This morning I was inspired to bake, and found this old recipe that I have and I remember when I was growing up my brothers asking me to make it all the time! In Brazil we actually mix the carrots with the cake dough and blend it all together. The taste is really good, specially the cake topping with condensed milk and chocolate (which we call “Brigadeiro”)!

I haven’t eat carrot cake for years and I am glad that I still know how to make it good!

January 3, 2009 - 10:28 pm brenda - hi Gisele, after seeing this picture of this carrot cake that you made, i went and looked up recipes online for brazilian carrot cake and i have been dying to know what it tastes like. i keep thinking i should try making the recipe that i printed, i don't know if i would get it quite right but i love to cook new stuff. the frosting looks sooooo good, maybe i will try it tomorrow! i will let you know if i do. just curious, do you know of any good brazilian restaurants here in the valley? i went to one when i was in California, but i don't think i have been to any here in AZ.

December 23, 2008 - 9:34 pm Cristi - Can I please drive over there right now and have a slice? You have to give me the recipe. It looks amazing. This is my most favorite cake ever!

Kara and Jarett + the kiddos

Lately I have been feeling extremely blessed for all the good people that God put in my life everyday. Just this great feeling of being surrounded by great friends, the positive energy and knowing that I am  attracting only good things into my life.  That is what has been happening this whole year and I am very grateful.

A couple months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Kara Layne, a super cool photographer and very good friend that I love to be around. Kara asked me to shoot her Family Portraits a couple weeks ago and I was excited to shoot her cute family! It was great meeting her husband Jarett and the kids, Tanner who is 2 years old and Blake, the cute baby girl who is 6 months old.

We met at Freestone Park and I captured some great shots:

Aww, how cute is that?!

Love this shot!

Tanner made me laugh during the session! His smile is adorable!! :)

Kara, I absolutely adore your family! I am crossing my fingers you like your photos as much I did! :)

December 16, 2008 - 8:23 pm Kara Layne - OH MY GOODNESS! Are you kidding me?! I couldn't have asked for anything more - they are stunning, Gisele. Absolutely incredible. Period. Thank you SO SO much for shooting us - we had a great time and Tanner definitely wore himself out flirting with you :) And I feel the exact same way - I am so blessed to have you in my life. You and Mark are incredible people and I cannot say enough good things about you both. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It means so much to Jarett and I.

First time painting!

I still working on my 101 of 1001 goals, and color painting some walls in my home would be on my list for sure. Since I completed even before I  finish writing my goals, I guess I will need to replace for something else. Last week Mark and I went to Home Depot to buy all the paint supplies we needed to paint my office wall and I had an idea of color in mind, olive green.

Hands on! I had a great time painting and came out to be easier than I expected. Also it was a great moment for me to think about life and just to feel blessed for everything I have and accomplished this year.

Mark gave me some extra help!

All done! Thanks for your help hunnie!

Well… let’s say I couldn’t resist to paint Mark’s face a bit! :)

Mark gave me the coolest Christmas gifts I could ask for! Just love it! That is how my Office/studio looks like now. I loved my new desk… (it was one of my christmas gift too!). I look forward to continue decorating and organizing my studio! Looks awesome already!

December 16, 2008 - 2:45 pm Kara Layne - LOVE IT! I am glad you posted pics because it looks amazing and even more amazing in person. Had a blast last night and I can't wait for more "late night hang outs" in the new studio :) Looking forward to date night with you and Mark...here comes trouble!! :) Oh, and are you and Mark available to hire? My new studio will be ready to paint in January - wink! wink!
